Complex surgical procedures - what do we help with?

Our dental surgeons not only deal with tooth extraction, but also prepare the mouth for prosthetic and implant treatment. The most common procedures are listed below:

  • Extractions of permanent teeth: Removal of teeth that cannot be saved. At our clinic, we always ensure that the procedure is gentle on the tissues so that healing is faster.
  • Removal of wisdom teeth (third molars): We specialise in the extraction of impacted teeth and problematic wisdom teeth that cause pain or crowding in the dental arch.
  • The placement of an orthodontic micro-implant (TAD): It is a procedure that supports orthodontic treatment. Thanks to the micro-implants, a stable anchorage is achieved, which in turn allows precise tooth movement. In addition, the procedure is short and minimally invasive.
  • Root tip resection: A „last resort” treatment for a tooth when root canal treatment is unsuccessful. It involves surgically cutting off the root tip together with the inflamed lesion. In this way, we can save the tooth from extraction.
  • Surgical treatment of mucosal lesions: We remove oral lesions such as fibromas, epulides, papillomas, or retention cysts (mucoceles).

Precise diagnostics before surgery

Safe surgery requires precision, which is why we have a CS 8200 3D CT scanner on site at our clinic. This allows the surgeon to see a three-dimensional image of structures that are not visible on an ordinary X-ray, such as the exact course of nerves, for example.

As a result, we minimise the risk of complications and the procedure itself is less invasive. Just as importantly, our state-of-the-art device guarantees minimal radiation dose.

Removal of wisdom teeth - When is it necessary?

Wisdom teeth often do not fit into the dental arch. As a result, they can cause inflammation, pain and even damage neighbouring teeth.

The main indications for their removal are primarily:

  • Pain and recurrent inflammation of the gums.
  • Inappropriate location, when the tooth is retained in the bone.
  • Orthodontic indications for example, the lack of space to move other teeth.
  • Caries at a site that is inaccessible for treatment.

Find out more

Does wisdom tooth extraction hurt?

No. The procedure is performed under deep local anaesthesia. As a result, the patient only feels a touch but no pain. In addition, appropriate pain medication is prescribed after the procedure to ensure maximum comfort at home.

How long does the gum heal after a tooth extraction?

Initial healing takes about 7-10 days, at which time the stitches are usually removed. On the other hand, full bone reconstruction in the tooth site takes several months. It is worth remembering that this time may vary depending on the individual predisposition of the patient.

What is a dry socket?

This is a complication involving the premature loss of a blood clot from the extraction site, resulting in severe pain. To avoid this, it is essential to follow the dentist's instructions, such as: no smoking, not drinking through a straw, and avoiding vigorous mouth rinsing for 24 hours after the procedure.

Can an implant be inserted after tooth extraction?

Yes, this is the best solution. Often an implant can be placed immediately after tooth extraction (immediate implantation). However, if this is not possible, a healing period must be waited for. It is important not to delay too long so that bone loss does not occur.

How do you prepare for a surgical procedure?

This does not require complicated measures. First of all, it is advisable to eat a light meal before your appointment, as you will not be able to eat for several hours after the procedure (due to the anaesthetic). It is also important to take your regular medication (unless otherwise advised by your doctor).

What does root tip resection involve?

This is a „last resort” treatment for a tooth that has not been successfully treated with a root canal. It involves surgically cutting off the root tip along with the inflamed lesion, rather than removing the whole tooth. With this procedure, we can save your own tooth and avoid the need for an implant or bridge in that area.
