Fixed Orthodontic Appliances Warsaw

Fixed braces are a precise and effective tool in the treatment of malocclusion in both adolescents and adult patients. Indications for treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances

Treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances is recommended in cases requiring precise and controlled correction of tooth alignment and bite relations. This method makes it possible to effectively treat both simple and more complex dental irregularities in children, adolescents and adults. Fixed braces consist of fixed elements bonded to the teeth and these are orthodontic brackets, as well as arches and elastic ligatures that are replaced at each visit.

The most common indications for fixed appliance treatment:

  • Dental crowding: situations where teeth overlap or erupt outside the normal dental arch due to insufficient space.
  • Gaps between teeth (diastemas, trephines): Permanent and aesthetically pleasing closure of spaces between teeth, restoring the harmonious arrangement of the dental arch.
  • Complex malocclusion: including, but not limited to, deep bite, open bite, crossbite and backbite, requiring complex orthodontic treatment.
  • Abnormal relationship of the jaw bone to the mandible: abnormal alignment of the dental arches which can lead to overload, tooth abrasion and temporomandibular joint disorders
  • Preparation for further dental treatment: orthodontic treatment can be an essential preparatory stage prior to prosthetic treatment (e.g. the making of crowns or bridges) and implantological treatment in order to achieve the correct
    occlusal and aesthetic conditions.
  • Disorders of chewing and speech function: Abnormal occlusion can affect chewing comfort, phonation and the overall function of the stomatognathic system.

Fixed braces allow for stable, predictable treatment results, providing the foundation for a healthy and functional smile.

What does fixed braces treatment look like?

  1. Consultation and Precision Diagnostics:

The first and crucial stage of orthodontic treatment is a consultation with an orthodontic specialist. At our clinic in Warsaw we provide comprehensive diagnostic imaging performed on site, including pantomogram, cephalometry and 3D CT scan.
Based on a thorough clinical examination, analysis of the radiological records and the 3D digital scans (3D diagnostic models) taken, the doctor develops a detailed, individually tailored treatment plan. This plan takes into account both the extent of the therapy and the anticipated treatment time, as well as a full cost estimate, enabling the patient to make a therapeutic decision in an informed and comfortable manner.

  2. Oral preparation:

Before starting orthodontic treatment with fixed braces, comprehensive oral preparation is essential. This includes treatment of all carious cavities under conservative dentistry and carrying out professional hygiene, including scaling and sandblasting. Sometimes it is necessary to remove teeth, most commonly third molars (so-called eights).
The mouth must be fully healthy in order to begin the process of controlled tooth movement safely and effectively. Proper preparation minimises the risk of complications, such as gingival inflammation or enamel demineralisation, and provides optimal conditions for achieving lasting and predictable orthodontic treatment results.

  3. Fixed braces:

The procedure for fitting orthodontic braces is a painless procedure and usually takes about one hour. It involves careful preparation of the enamel surface, followed by precise bonding of the orthodontic brackets using a specialised, fully secure adhesive system.
After the procedure, the patient receives detailed instructions on proper oral hygiene and the principles of brace management, which is crucial to the effectiveness of treatment and to maintaining the health of the teeth and gums during orthodontic therapy.

  4. Control Visits:

A key element of successful orthodontic treatment is regular activation visits, These are usually at intervals of 4-6 weeks. At each visit, the orthodontist carries out a detailed assessment of the progress of the therapy and carries out the necessary modifications to the braces.
Activation of the appliance involves, among other things, the replacement of orthodontic arches or flexible ligatures, which allows further, controlled movement of the teeth in accordance with the individually planned treatment direction. The regularity of the visits is crucial to achieve predictable, stable and long-lasting therapeutic results.

  5. Apparatus Photo and Retention Stage:

Once the planned therapeutic effects have been achieved, the active phase of treatment is completed, involving the removal of the orthodontic appliance. This procedure is painless and carried out in a way that is safe for the tissues of the teeth.
In order to consolidate the results obtained and to prevent the recurrence of malocclusion, an extremely important stage of treatment begins, namely retention. The patient receives a customised retention appliance, which has a fixed form - a thin wire attached to the inside of the front teeth - and a removable form, worn in accordance with the doctor's instructions, usually at night during sleep.
When used correctly, retention is a guarantee for the stability of treatment results and the long-term maintenance of correct tooth alignment.

What is the cost of orthodontic treatment?

The cost of the first orthodontic consultation is PLN 280. Detailed prices for individual services and treatments (e.g. diagnostic X-ray, fitting of braces, follow-up appointments) are shown in our price list. Please note that the total cost of orthodontic treatment is always determined individually. It depends on the complexity of the malocclusion, the selected treatment method (e.g. fixed metal braces, aesthetic braces, Invisalign trays) and the expected duration of the treatment. A precise, full cost estimate is provided to the patient after consultation and full diagnostics, together with a presentation of the individual treatment plan.

How long does orthodontic treatment with fixed braces take?

The duration of treatment is an individual matter. On average, active treatment with fixed braces lasts between 1.5 and 2.5 years. Crucial to the success of the treatment is the patient's regularity and compliance with follow-up appointments.

At what age is it best to start orthodontic treatment?

It is never too late for orthodontic treatment. We treat both children (so-called early treatment, often with removable braces) and adolescents and adult patients. In the case of adults, we often use discreet solutions such as aesthetic braces or clear trays. We recommend that the first orthodontic consultation for a child takes place at around 6-7 years of age to assess the development of occlusion.

What is the first visit to the orthodontist like?

The first visit is a consultation, during which the orthodontist carries out a detailed examination of the mouth and assesses the malocclusion. This is the time to discuss the patient's expectations. In order to precisely plan the treatment, it is necessary to perform a full diagnostics - in our clinic in Warsaw, we have modern x-ray equipment (pantomogram, cephalometry, tomography), which allows for all the examinations to be performed on site. Based on the diagnostics, the doctor presents an individual treatment plan.

How often are follow-up appointments with fixed braces?

The frequency of visits depends on the stage of treatment. In the case of fixed appliances, follow-up visits (activation visits, involving, for example, the replacement of arches or ligatures) usually take place every 4-8 weeks.
