Endodontics Warsaw

When is root canal treatment necessary?

Endodontic treatment is primarily necessary when irreversible inflammation of the tooth pulp occurs. It is worth noting that the most common symptoms are:

  • Severe throbbing pain (especially at night).

  • Hypersensitivity to heat and cold.

  • Pain when biting down.

  • Swelling of the gums or a noticeable change in the color of the tooth.

Tooth canals
  1. Diagnostics: Initially, we perform full diagnostics, i.e., X-ray or 3D CT scan to accurately assess the canal anatomy.

  2. Anaesthesia and Dental Dam: Effective local anesthesia is administered, and a dental dam (an isolating rubber sheet) is placed to ensure a completely sterile treatment area.

  3. Cleaning and Shaping: In the next step, under microscope guidance, we remove the infected tissue and thoroughly clean and shape the root canals.

  4. Filling: Finally, we tightly seal the canals with a biocompatible material (gutta-percha). This securely prevents bacteria from re-entering the tooth.

Treatment under the microscope

Why is treatment under the microscope so effective?

At our clinic in Wola, working under high magnification is the standard. We use the industry-leading Carl Zeiss EXTARO 300 microscope because it allows the dentist to see the inside of the tooth with incredible accuracy.

  • Precision: This allows us to locate hidden, additional, and highly curved canals that are invisible to the naked eye.

  • Safety: Furthermore, we minimize the risk of instrument fracture or root perforation.

  • Effectiveness: As a result, the treatment is highly successful and can often be completed in just a single visit.

What is restoration after endodontic treatment?

Restoration after endodontic treatment involves rebuilding the tooth's shape, function, and mechanical strength. It usually includes:

  1. Temporary or permanent core build-up – performed immediately after endodontic treatment. The aim is to tightly seal the canal openings against bacterial re-infection.
  2. Restoration of the tooth crown:
    • composite filling – used for smaller cavities. It provides a quick and aesthetically pleasing result.
    • endocrown– an extensive composite or ceramic restoration, usually prepared in a prosthetic laboratory based on a 3D digital scan.
    • post and core (metal or fiberglass) – when the tooth crown is severely destroyed, a post is placed directly into the root canals. It reinforces the root and provides a solid foundation for a prosthetic crown.
    • prosthetic crown – a custom-made cap placed completely over a suitably prepared tooth. It can be made of all-ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or composite materials.

Does root canal treatment under the microscope hurt?

Thanks to modern anaesthetics, the procedure itself is completely painless. The patient may only feel a slight discomfort due to the long opening of the mouth. However, after the anaesthesia has worn off, temporary hypersensitivity may occur, which passes after a few days.

How long does root canal treatment take?

In most cases, we complete the primary treatment in one visit, which lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. However, in the case of complex re-treatment (re-endo) or the presence of major inflammation, two visits may be needed.

Will the tooth darken after root canal treatment?

Modern methods minimise this risk. What's more, a tooth after root canal treatment can be effectively whitened (intracoronal bleaching) or restored with an aesthetically pleasing prosthetic crown, making it no different from the rest.

How much does root canal treatment cost in Warsaw?

The price depends on the number of canals in the tooth (incisors usually have one, molars three or four). Therefore, an exact cost estimate is provided after the X-ray. It is worth remembering that saving your own tooth is always cheaper and better for your bite than removing it and inserting an implant.
